Duchcov Chateau is a grand Baroque residence in the town of Duchcov in northern Czechia and is closely associated with the noble Wallenstein (Waldstein) family. 

Built on the site of an earlier Renaissance manor, it was extensively remodeled from the late 17th century onward by leading architects and artists, becoming one of the region’s most important aristocratic estates. The château is best known as the final home of the famous Italian adventurer and writer Giacomo Casanova, who worked there as a librarian from 1785 until his death in 1798.

During his time at Duchcov, he wrote much of his celebrated memoirs, which made both him and the château internationally famous. Today, visitors can explore beautifully restored historic interiors, art collections, a museum dedicated to the Wallenstein family, and exhibitions about Casanova’s life. The château is surrounded by a landscaped park and remains one of Czechia’s most significant cultural and historical landmarks.
