Dún na Séad Castle, also known as Baltimore Castle, is a historic fortified building in the fishing village of Baltimore on Ireland’s southwest coast in County Cork. Built on the site of earlier fortifications that date back to the Norman period, the castle has strong links to the O'Driscoll clan, a powerful seafaring family that once dominated the region. Overlooking Baltimore Harbour and Roaring Water Bay, the castle played an important role in local defense and maritime trade for centuries. After falling into ruin, it was carefully restored in the late 1990s and early 2000s and is now a notable heritage attraction where visitors can learn about the castle’s history, the famous Sack of Baltimore in 1631, and the area's rich maritime past. Today, Dún na Séad Castle is one of West Cork’s most recognizable landmarks, valued for its historical significance, restored architecture, and panoramic views of the surrounding coastline.
