Dunmahon Castle is a ruined medieval tower house located near Haynestown and Gibstown in County Louth, Ireland. Built in the 15th century, it originally served as a fortified residence and stands about four storeys high, reflecting the defensive architecture common in late medieval Ireland. The castle is best known for its dramatic history. Historical accounts associate it with a massacre during the conflicts of the 1640s, when several hundred people are believed to have been killed during the Cromwellian period, although details vary between sources. Today, the structure remains an impressive landmark despite being in ruins. Visitors can still see features such as its thick stone walls, stair tower, garderobes, vaulted ground floor, and defensive entrance with a murder hole above the doorway.
