Originally developed by the noble Oxenstierna family, including Bengt Bengtsson Oxenstierna who began manor construction, it features a main building from the 17th century with an added southern wing in the 18th century under Arvid Horn, blending architectural styles from multiple eras as both a residence and later educational site.
Since 1932, the castle has served as Ekebyholmsskolan, an Adventist school, preserving its grand mansion structure amid walking paths and recreational grounds near the lake.
