Ekensholm Castle
Sweden, Sweden
Ekensholm Castle, located in Dunker Parish within Flen Municipality in Södermanland County, Sweden, sits on the northern shore of Lake Dunkern and exemplifies traditional Swedish manor architecture with its white exterior walls, symmetrical design, and six grand columns at the entrance.
Commissioned in 1827 by Baron Knut Kurck, a Swedish lieutenant and politician briefly detained for involvement in King Gustav III's murder, it replaced earlier structures and has hosted noble families including Habsburg, Douglas, Lagerfelt, and Stockenström.
Today, it remains the private residence of Count Archibald Douglas and his wife Walburga Habsburg Douglas, preserving its historical ties to European nobility amid scenic surroundings once used for Swedish Royal Guard horse training.
