Ekholmen Castle
Sweden, Sweden
Ekholmen Castle is a Renaissance-style manor located south of Enköping in Veckholm parish, Enköping Municipality, Uppsala County, Sweden, near Norra Björkfjärden in Lake Mälaren.
First documented in 1369, the estate features a main building with four corner towers and Baroque curved gables, reconstructed between 1736 and 1748 by renowned architect Carl Hårleman, with wings from an earlier structure designed by Jean de la Vallée that burned in 1686, and further rebuilt in 1857 by Fredrik Wilhelm Scholander.
This privately owned castle blends historical architectural evolution from medieval origins through Renaissance and Baroque influences, set amid scenic waterside grounds.
