Emin Zámek
Šanov, Czechia, Czech Republic (Czechia)
Emin Zámek is a charming Neo-Baroque château located in the wooded countryside near Šanov in South Moravia.
It was built in 1882 by Count Eduard Khuen-Belassy and named after his wife Emanuela, from whom it received the name “Emin” (Emmahof). The château is closely connected with the famous Czech Art Nouveau painter Alfons Mucha, who spent time there early in his career and helped decorate some of its interiors.
Several of his works created at the château were later lost in a fire, but the site remains an important part of his artistic story. After restoration in 1913, the château became a gathering place for artists and intellectuals. Following World War II, it was nationalized and adapted for social care purposes.
