Fermoselle's Castle
Fermoselle, Spain, Spain
Fermoselle's Castle is a 13th-century ruined fortress perched on a cliffside overlooking the dramatic Arribes del Duero canyon in Fermoselle, Zamora province, Castilla y León, Spain.
Originally a military settlement possibly linked to Doña Urraca's retirement, it was captured by Portuguese troops during the 1654 Restoration War and later repaired in the 18th century before falling into decay.
Today, its surviving southern walls and pointed arch known as 'el Arco del Villar' offer accessible panoramic viewpoints from the Plaza Mayor, protected since 1949 as a historic monument amid the town's ancient, well-preserved medieval fabric.
