Fermoyle Castle House refers to a historic estate in County Kerry associated with the site of an earlier O’Sullivan castle. The original castle stood in the Fermoyle area on the Iveragh Peninsula and was linked to local Gaelic families before later changes transformed the property. During the 19th century, a house was built onto or near the remains of the older castle, creating what became known as Fermoyle Castle House. The property was associated with the Sugrue family and later served for a time as a Catholic presbytery, reflecting its changing role within the local community. Today, the site is largely in ruins, but it remains an interesting reminder of the region’s layered history, combining elements of a medieval O’Sullivan stronghold with later estate and residential developments in one of County Kerry’s scenic coastal landscapes.
