The Gili Islands—Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air—are a trio of idyllic islets off the northwest coast of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. These tiny islands are famed for their white-sand beaches, turquoise waters, and vibrant coral reefs, making them a magnet for beach lovers, divers, and anyone seeking a tropical escape.

Each island has its own personality:

• Gili Trawangan (or “Gili T”) is the largest and liveliest, known for its buzzing nightlife, beach bars, and dive shops. Despite its party reputation, it also offers serene spots and stunning sunsets from its western shore.
• Gili Meno is the quietest and most romantic, often favored by honeymooners. It’s home to a saltwater lake, a bird sanctuary, and the famous underwater statues that attract snorkelers.
• Gili Air strikes a balance between the two—laid-back but lively, with a strong local community and a growing yoga and wellness scene.

Motorized vehicles are banned on all three islands, so transportation is by bicycle, foot, or cidomo (horse-drawn cart), adding to the relaxed, car-free charm. The surrounding waters are part of a marine conservation area, offering world-class diving and snorkeling with sea turtles, reef sharks, and vibrant coral gardens.
