Glinsk Castle is a historic tower house located in the village of Glinsk in County Galway, Ireland. Built in the early to mid-17th century, it is often described as one of the last traditional castles constructed in Ireland and served as the seat of the Burke baronets of Glinsk. The castle is a striking roofless ruin with a rectangular design, two projecting towers, elegant mullioned windows, and distinctive chimney stacks that remain among its most notable architectural features. Despite being damaged by fire, possibly during the Cromwellian period, much of the structure survives and offers a glimpse into Ireland’s transition from medieval fortified castles to more comfortable country residences. Situated in the scenic River Suck valley, the castle overlooks the surrounding countryside and is recognized as a National Monument of Ireland. Today, it attracts visitors interested in Irish history, architecture, and the legacy of the Burke family in the west of Ireland.
