Golčův Jeníkov is a small town in the Vysočina Region of the Czech Republic with around 2,600 inhabitants. It is situated in the Upper Sázava Hills, about 24 kilometers north of Havlíčkův Brod and 32 kilometers southwest of Pardubice.
The town has a rich history dating back to the 10th century, originally known simply as Jeníkov and later renamed to honor General Martin Maxmillian of Goltz, who rebuilt and improved it in the 17th century. The town features a blend of historical architecture, including a town hall, churches, and a Jesuit college.
It was historically notable for its Jewish community, which played a significant role until the tragic events of World War II. Golčův Jeníkov is connected by the I/38 road and railway, making it accessible and linking it regionally. Its landscape includes fishponds and an English-style park, contributing to its quaint, picturesque character.
