Görväln House
Jakobsberg, Sweden, Sweden
Görväln House, situated at Jakobsberg in Järfälla Municipality near Lake Mälaren in Stockholm County, Sweden, traces its origins to the 1460s as two farms owned by the Archdiocese of Uppsala.
Following the Protestant Reformation in 1520, it became crown property under King John III until 1571, when he gifted it to Italian nobleman Antonius de Palma, later passing to the Swedish noble Bjelke family from 1605 to 1661, during whose tenure the main building saw expansions.
Today, owned by Järfälla Municipality since the early 2000s and operating as Görvälns Slott hotel and restaurant since 2008, it preserves a manorial milieu with 15th-century structures, including Sweden's only surviving main building from that era clad in Gotland sandstone, alongside modern amenities like unique historic rooms and fine dining.
