Grădina Botanică Universitară "Pavel Covaci" din Macea is a university botanical garden located in Macea commune, Arad County, Romania, about 20 kilometers from Arad near the border at Curtici. The garden spans 21.5 hectares and features over 3,800 taxa in its collections, including more than 2,000 species of trees and shrubs and over 500 herbaceous species, with a 3.5-hectare dendrological collection open to public visitation. Initially established as land owned by the Serbian-origin Csernovics noble family who received the domain in 1724 from the Austrian Empire and built a castle around 1745, the estate was later expanded by family descendant Petru who brought rare Oriental species like Ginko Biloba that still survive today. After nationalization in 1968, the park officially became a Dendrologic Park, and in 1994, when leased by the "Vasile Goldiș" West University of Arad, it was transformed into the "Pavel Covaci" Botanical Garden. Today it operates as an educational and scientific institution under the university, attracting visitors with its peaceful alleys, diverse plant collections, and numerous small birds and animals inhabiting the grounds.
