Grange Castle Village is a small historic settlement in County Kildare centered around Grange Castle, a well-preserved medieval tower house built by the Anglo-Norman Bermingham family around the 15th century. The castle later passed to the Tyrrell family, who owned the estate for more than 250 years and added a Georgian-era residence known as Fallon Hall beside the tower. The four-storey castle is notable for its strong defensive design, spiral staircase, distinctive battlements, and decorative Jacobean chimneys added in the 17th century. It survived many of the conflicts that damaged other Irish castles and remains one of the best-preserved examples of a medieval tower house in the region. Today, Grange Castle is a protected National Monument and an important reminder of County Kildare’s Anglo-Norman heritage. Surrounded by farmland and historic buildings, the site offers visitors a glimpse into Ireland’s medieval past and centuries of rural estate life.
