Gutštejn is a medieval castle ruin located near Konstantinovy Lázně in western Czechia, standing on a rocky promontory above the Hadovka stream.

It was founded around 1300 by the noble Hroznatovci family and became the ancestral seat of the Lords of Gutštejn. The castle played an important role during the Middle Ages and was even associated with the Hussite Wars, when forces led by Jan Žižka reportedly besieged it in the early 15th century.

After being sold in 1549 and incorporated into a larger estate, it gradually lost its importance as a residence, was abandoned by the late 16th century, and eventually fell into ruin during or after the Thirty Years’ War. Today, Gutštejn is a protected cultural monument and a popular historical attraction. Visitors can explore its impressive remains, including sections of the defensive walls and a distinctive tower, while enjoying views of the surrounding forests and countryside.
