HaSela Beach
Israel, Israel
HaSela Beach, also called “The Rock Beach,” is a quiet, family-friendly beach in Bat Yam, Israel, located between Yerushalayim Street and Atzmaut Boulevard along the Tel Aviv District coastline.
The name “HaSela” means “The Rock” in Hebrew, and the beach lives up to its name as it’s surrounded by large rocks that form a natural breakwater, creating a calm lagoon-like area with virtually no waves even when the rest of the sea is rough. This makes it especially safe and ideal for families with small children, as the shallow, protected waters are like a “swimming pool in the sea” and never get deeper than chest-level for adults.
The beach offers clean, fine sand, lifeguards on duty until 6 pm, outdoor showers (including fresh water and foot-washing rinses), restrooms, changing facilities, and chair and umbrella rentals (about 18 shekels for a chair and umbrella or 12 shekels for a chair-table-umbrella combo).
It’s close to the Bat Yam Promenade, giving easy access to restaurants, bars, benches for sitting, and a beautiful sea view, making it a great spot for an evening stroll after a day at the beach. While it can get crowded on Saturdays, it’s mostly quiet and relaxing on other days, perfect for sunbathing, swimming, or simply enjoying the calm Mediterranean waters.
