Hazmburk
Klapý, Czechia, Czech Republic (Czechia)
Hazmburk near Klapý in the Czech Republic is a prominent 429-meter basalt hill in the České středohoří region, topped by the Gothic ruins of a 14th-century castle originally called Klepý, renamed by Zbyněk Zajíc z Valdeka after his hare emblem around 1335.
Built in the late 13th century by the Lichtemburk family, the fortress overlooks the fertile Ohře and Labe river plains, featuring remnants of walls, towers, and a cistern amid scenic trails popular for hiking. The site, part of a protected natural area in Litoměřice District, suffered landslides in 1898, 1900, and 1939 that destroyed the original village below, drawing visitors for its dramatic geology and history.
