Helfenburk Castle near Úštěk in Czechia is a Gothic castle ruin originally built in the 14th century on a rocky hilltop surrounded by forest.

It was founded by the noble Rosenberg family as a fortified stronghold with a circular layout, and over time it was expanded and strengthened with three defensive walls and several gates, including a huge round tower overlooking the entrance. The castle was known for its strong defensive system, including cannon bastions and a deep well, and served as an important military and administrative center.

Ownership changed multiple times, including possession by archbishops and noble families such as the Rožmberks and Schwarzenbergs. After the Battle of White Mountain in the early 17th century, the castle was abandoned, plundered, and damaged by fire, leading to its gradual ruin. Today, Helfenburk stands as one of the largest castle ruins in Czechia, notable for its size and well-preserved defensive structures, attracting visitors interested in medieval history and castle architecture.
