The village was first mentioned in 1335 and later divided into Horní (Upper) and Dolní (Lower) Bludovice in the 15th century. The area is characterized by a mix of foothills and lowlands, with the Lučina River flowing through it. It has a population of around 2,600 people and is known for its rural landscape with agricultural surroundings.

A notable cultural monument is an 18th-century Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, and the village hosts a chapel dedicated to the saint. The village has no major transport routes passing through it, maintaining a quiet and traditional atmosphere.
