Hrad Brumov is a historic castle ruin that overlooks the town of Brumov-Bylnice in southeastern Czechia, near the Slovak border.

Founded in the early 13th century, it was built to guard the important Vlár Pass, a strategic route connecting Moravia with Hungary, making it one of the oldest castles in the region. Over the centuries, the castle played a major defensive role and was repeatedly expanded and fortified.

It witnessed numerous military conflicts, including the Hussite Wars, the Thirty Years’ War, and incursions from Hungarian and Ottoman forces. Fires in the 18th and 19th centuries eventually left the castle in ruins. Today, visitors can explore the preserved remains of the castle, including its walls, towers, and exhibition areas that showcase local history and archaeological finds.

The site also offers impressive views of the White Carpathian Mountains and the surrounding countryside. Hrad Brumov is now a popular cultural and tourist destination, hosting exhibitions, performances, and seasonal events while serving as one of the most recognizable landmarks of the Brumov-Bylnice area.
