Hrad Choustník is a well-known medieval castle ruin located on a hill near the village of Choustník in South Bohemia.

Built in the second half of the 13th century, it is famous for its unusual design as a “double castle,” where two related noble families occupied separate sections of the same fortress, a rare arrangement in the Czech lands. The castle later came under the ownership of the powerful Rožmberk family and played an important defensive and administrative role during the Middle Ages.

After changing owners several times, it gradually lost its importance and was already considered abandoned by the early 17th century. Today, the ruins are protected as a cultural monument and are open to visitors. The surviving towers, walls, and elevated location provide impressive views of the surrounding countryside, making Hrad Choustník a popular destination for those interested in Czech history, architecture, and nature.
