Hrad Lipnice is one of the largest and most impressive medieval castles in the Czech Republic, standing on a hill above the town of Lipnice nad Sázavou in the Vysočina Region.

It was founded in the early 14th century by the powerful Lords of Lichtenburk and later became the residence of several important noble families. Over the centuries, the castle was expanded and transformed from a Gothic fortress into a grand noble residence.

Although it was badly damaged by a fire in 1869, extensive restoration work preserved its monumental architecture and historic atmosphere. The castle is famous for its massive towers, medieval halls, Gothic chapel, and the Samson Tower, whose viewing platform offers spectacular panoramas of the surrounding countryside.

It is also closely associated with the Czech writer Jaroslav Hašek, who lived nearby and even guided visitors through the castle. Today, Hrad Lipnice is a major cultural monument and popular tourist destination, valued for its rich history, dramatic setting, and exceptional views over the Posázaví and Vysočina landscapes.
