Hrad Mírov is one of the oldest castles in Moravia, located on a hill above the village of Mírov in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic.

It was founded in the 13th century by the bishops of Olomouc and served as an important administrative and defensive center for their estates. Over the centuries, the castle was damaged during several conflicts, including the Hussite Wars and the Thirty Years’ War. In the late 17th century it was rebuilt into a Baroque fortress, and by the mid-18th century it was converted into a prison.

Today, Mírov Castle is best known as a high-security prison and is not generally open to the public. Despite its modern function, it remains a significant historic landmark with a long and fascinating history that reflects both medieval and later Baroque architectural development.
