Hvězda Summer Pavilion (Letohrádek Hvězda) is one of Prague’s most distinctive Renaissance landmarks, located within the Hvězda Game Reserve in the Liboc district. Built between 1555 and 1558 for Archduke Ferdinand of Tyrol, the pavilion is famous for its unusual six-pointed star shape, which inspired its name, as “hvězda” means “star” in Czech. The building was designed as a royal hunting lodge and summer retreat, combining elegant Renaissance architecture with symbolic geometric design. Its richly decorated interiors and unique layout make it one of the most remarkable examples of Renaissance architecture in the Czech Republic. The pavilion stands near the site of the historic Battle of White Mountain of 1620 and is now protected as part of a national cultural monument. Today, it houses exhibitions and hosts cultural events, while the surrounding park and woodland remain a popular place for recreation and walks.
