Icehotel

Jukkasjärvi, Kiruna, Lapland, Sweden

---

Icehotel, located in Jukkasjärvi near Kiruna in Swedish Lapland, is the world’s first ice hotel and one of Sweden’s most famous attractions.

First created in 1990, it is built from ice and snow taken from the nearby Torne River, and a new version is handcrafted each winter by artists from around the world. The hotel is renowned for its uniquely designed ice rooms, ice sculptures, and ice bar, where even the glasses are made of ice. Each year’s design is different, making every visit a unique artistic experience.

Guests can stay in rooms kept below freezing while enjoying special Arctic experiences such as dog sledding, northern lights viewing, and snowmobile tours. Today, Icehotel is a year-round destination thanks to Icehotel 365, a permanent ice structure cooled by solar energy. Combining art, innovation, and the natural beauty of the Arctic, it offers one of the most memorable travel experiences in Sweden.
