Isert Kelly Castle is a well-preserved 15th century tower house located near Kilchreest in County Galway, Ireland. Built by the MacHubert Burke family, a branch of the Anglo-Norman de Burgh dynasty, it later passed to the MacRedmond Burkes and played an important role in the region's medieval history. The castle was attacked and burned in 1596 during conflicts involving the O'Donnell clan, but evidence suggests it was repaired and occupied again in the early 1600s. Today, the castle stands about 21 metres (69 feet) tall and is recognized as a National Monument of Ireland. Archaeological excavations have uncovered remains of surrounding buildings, including halls, stables, and courtyards, providing valuable insight into life in medieval Galway. Its impressive stone structure and historical significance make it one of the notable heritage sites in the area.
