Jánský Vrch

Jánský Vrch is a historic castle and château overlooking the town of Javorník in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic.

Originally built as a medieval fortress around the turn of the 14th century, it was first documented in 1307 and later became the property of the Prince-Bishops of Wrocław, who owned it for most of its history. The castle was heavily damaged during the Hussite Wars in the 15th century, but it was rebuilt and transformed into a Renaissance residence, eventually receiving the name Jánský Vrch, meaning “St. John’s Hill.”

In the 18th century, it underwent extensive Baroque renovations and became an important cultural center of Upper Silesia, hosting notable figures such as composer Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf. Today, Jánský Vrch is a well-preserved national cultural monument open to visitors. Its historic interiors, collections, and hilltop setting make it one of the most significant landmarks in the Javorník area.
