Jaroměř is a historic town situated in the Náchod District of the Hradec Králové Region in the Czech Republic.

It has a population of around 12,000 residents and is notable for its strategic location at the confluence of the Elbe, Úpa, and Metuje rivers. The town's history dates back to at least 1126 when it was first mentioned in historical records, with origins linked to a castle founded by Duke Jaromír. Over the centuries, Jaroměř developed into a significant military and trading center and was granted the status of a royal town in 1298.

It played a role during the Hussite Wars and later became part of the possessions of Queen Barbara of Cilli and King George of Poděbrady. In the late 18th century, Emperor Joseph II built the nearby Josefov Fortress to defend against Prussian invasions, which is now a key historical site.

The town experienced various periods of growth, damage from wars, and reconstruction, embodying a rich mix of architectural styles, from Renaissance to Baroque and modern influences. In the 19th century, industrial development expanded with the construction of the railway in 1857, further boosting its growth.
