Kalaja e Margëlliçit is a historic castle located in the village of Margëlliç near Patos, western Albania. Dating from the 7th century AD, it is situated atop a hill and was part of the defense system for the ancient city of Byllis.
The castle played an important role in controlling the area and protecting its inhabitants from invaders over the centuries. During World War II, it was also a site of battle between the Wehrmacht and Albanian partisans, where the Albanian fighter Lefter Talo lost his life defending the region.
Today, the castle remains a significant cultural monument reflecting Albania's layered history and strategic fortifications in the region.
