Kalaja E Rodonit
Cape of Rodon, Albania, Albania
Kalaja e Rodonit, also known as Rodoni Castle or Skanderbeg Castle, is a ruined medieval fortress on the Cape of Rodon (Kepi i Rodonit), a rocky headland on the Adriatic Sea north of Durrës in Albania.
Built by the Albanian national hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg in the mid‑15th century, the castle originally had extensive walls and four corner towers, serving as a maritime stronghold to help control the coastline and support resistance against the Ottoman Empire.
Over time the structure was damaged in conflicts and later partly submerged by coastal erosion, so today visitors see mainly the remaining outer walls and a corner tower rising from the rocky cape, next to the small Church of Saint Anthony, in a dramatic seaside setting that combines history with raw, rugged coastline.
