Keel Beach
Ireland, Ireland
Keel Beach is a long, sandy beach on Achill Island in County Mayo, western Ireland, stretching about 3.5–4 km along the north‑west coast from the village of Keel almost to the Minaun cliffs.
It faces the Atlantic Ocean and offers plenty of space for walking, sunbathing, swimming, and a wide range of water sports such as surfing, kayaking, windsurfing, kitesurfing, snorkelling, and scuba diving, with lifeguards on duty during the summer months. The beach is backed by low sand dunes and lies at the foot of the dramatic Minaun cliffs and the hills of Achill Head, giving visitors striking views over the island’s rugged coastline and the nearby rock stacks called The Bills’ Rocks.
