King Fahd Fountain
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
The King Fahd Fountain, also known as the Jeddah Fountain, is one of the most famous landmarks in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Gifted to the city by King Fahd and officially inaugurated in 1985, it is recognized as the tallest fountain in the world, shooting seawater from the Red Sea to a height of about 312 meters (1,024 feet). Located just offshore along the Jeddah Corniche, the fountain can be seen from many parts of the city and has become a symbol of Jeddah. Its powerful water jet is illuminated at night by more than 500 spotlights, creating a spectacular display against the coastal skyline. The fountain is admired not only for its beauty but also for its engineering, as it uses saltwater drawn directly from the Red Sea. Popular with both residents and tourists, the King Fahd Fountain is one of Saudi Arabia’s most iconic attractions and is especially impressive when viewed after sunset.
