Knutstorp Manor
Sweden, Sweden
Knutstorp Manor, located in Kågeröd in Skåne County, southern Sweden, dates back to the mid-14th century as a noble estate owned by the prominent Danish Brahe family until 1663, following the Treaty of Roskilde that ceded Scania to Sweden.
The current main building was completed in 1551 by Danish Royal Privy Councilor Otte Brahe and his wife Beate Clausdatter Bille, serving as the birthplace of renowned astronomer Tycho Brahe in 1546, and later fortified under King Charles XI before suffering damage from Danish forces and fires, with restorations in 1728 and the 1840s.
Today, the privately owned Renaissance-style structure with its wings—partially destroyed by fire in 1956—stands amid rural landscapes as a preserved example of Scania's aristocratic heritage, though not open to the public.
