Košťany is a town in the Czech Republic located about 5 kilometers west of Teplice and 19 kilometers west of Ústí nad Labem.
The town lies partly in the Most Basin and partly in the Ore Mountains, with its northern boundary along the German border. The highest point in the area is Pramenáč mountain, which rises to 910 meters above sea level. Košťany's name is derived from an old Czech word meaning a hill or forest covered in thicket.
The first known written record of Košťany dates back to 1394. Over time, Košťany grew into a community with a mix of residential areas and natural surroundings, with the Sviní potok stream flowing through the town. It was officially granted town status in 1994. The area reflects a blend of natural beauty and historical roots, with nearby mountains and historic settlements shaping its character and development.
