Kostomlaty Pod Milešovkou
Kostomlaty Pod Milešovkou, Czech Republic (Czechia)
Kostomlaty Pod Milešovkou is a village in the Czech Republic known for its early 14th-century Gothic castle ruins built before 1333 by the Lords of Osek. The castle later became royal property purchased by Emperor Charles IV in 1335. It was involved in historic events such as the Hussite Wars when it was pillaged in 1434.
The castle was gradually abandoned in the 16th century and ceased being a noble residence by 1606. Today, only parts of the keep, palace, and outer walls remain, with the castle regarded as one of the picturesque ruins in the region and a stop on local hiking trails amid the volcanic landscape of the Central Bohemian Uplands.
The tower of the castle has been preserved and is sometimes open to visitors, offering panoramic views of the surrounding area.
