La Giralda in Seville, Andalusia, Spain, is the iconic bell tower of the Seville Cathedral, originally constructed between 1184 and 1198 as the minaret of the city's Great Mosque during the Almohad Caliphate under ruler Yaqub al-Mansur.

Standing at 104 meters tall with a square base, its lower Islamic section features elegant red brickwork, geometric patterns, horseshoe arches, and 35 gentle ramps instead of stairs to allow access by horseback, while the upper Renaissance belfry—added in the 16th century by Hernán Ruiz—holds bells and culminates in the bronze Giraldillo weather vane depicting faith triumphing over temptation. 

Preserved after the Christian Reconquista of Seville in 1248 converted the mosque into a cathedral, this UNESCO World Heritage symbol blends Moorish and Christian architecture, offering panoramic city views via its ramp ascent.
