Lichnice Castle Ruins are the remains of a medieval hilltop fortress located above the town of Třemošnice on the edge of the Iron Mountains in eastern Czechia.

The castle was built in the first half of the 13th century, likely as a royal stronghold, and later became one of the region’s most important defensive sites. Throughout its history, Lichnice played a role in several conflicts, including the Hussite Wars, and was expanded and strengthened by noble owners over the centuries.

Its military importance gradually declined, and after damage from fire and the Thirty Years’ War, the fortress fell into ruin. Today, the ruins are a protected cultural monument and a popular destination for visitors. The site offers impressive views over the surrounding countryside, preserved sections of medieval walls and towers, and access to the scenic natural landscapes of the Iron Mountains.
