Ljungs Slott
Ljungsbro, Sweden, Sweden
Ljungs Slott, located in Ljungsbro near Linköping in Östergötland, Sweden, is a prime example of Gustavian-era architecture built between 1774 and 1795 for Count Axel von Fersen the Elder to designs by court architect Jean Eric Rehn.
The elegant three-story yellow main building with a mansard roof, flanked by low wings and overlooking Motala Stream amid an English park and avenues leading to Ljungs Church, preserves much original 1780s interiors including tile stoves and decorative details, reflecting aristocratic life during construction over two decades.
Passed through noble families like Hamilton, Horn, Fleming, and von Fersen until 1839, it later saw sugar beet factory ventures before becoming privately owned by the Nordenhed family since 1949, now offering summer guided tours by preservation society volunteers.
