Löfstad Slott
Sweden, Sweden
Löfstad Slott, located near Norrköping in Östergötland, Sweden, originated in the 15th century but took its current Baroque form between 1630 and 1660 under Field Marshal Axel Lillie and his wife Christina Mörner, later passing to the influential von Fersen and Piper noble families.
The estate evolved through renovations, including mid-18th-century updates after a fire, preserving a mix of Baroque, Rococo, and later styles in its interiors, which remained untouched since the death of last owner Emilie Piper in 1926 per her wishes.
Now managed by the Östergötland Museum since 1940 as a time-capsule heritage site open for guided tours, it features authentic furnishings, an English park, gardens, a historic inn, and a wooden bell tower amid expansive grounds reflecting aristocratic life over four centuries.
