The first written record of Loukovec dates back to 1225. It lies on an elevated plateau near the Jizera River within the Jičín Uplands, about 17 kilometers north of Mladá Boleslav city. Historically, it was owned by influential noble families like the Berka of Dubá and the Waldstein families.
The village features notable landmarks including Loukovec Castle, which started as a medieval fortress and was rebuilt in Renaissance and Baroque styles, and the nearby Baroque Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, constructed in 1726. Loukovec is a quiet rural area without major roads or railways passing directly through it, preserving its peaceful character.
