Lund Cathedral

Lund, Skåne, Sweden

---

Lund Cathedral, located in the city of Lund in Skåne, is one of Sweden’s oldest and most significant churches.

Construction began in the late 11th century, and the cathedral became the main church of the medieval archbishopric that once oversaw all the Nordic countries. It is widely regarded as the finest example of Romanesque architecture in the Nordic region. The cathedral is famous for its impressive twin towers, historic crypt, and remarkable astronomical clock dating from the 15th century.

Visitors are also drawn to the legendary stone figure known as the giant Finn in the crypt, which is linked to one of the cathedral’s most famous local legends. For nearly 900 years, Lund Cathedral has served as a place of worship, culture, and history. Its beautiful architecture, medieval treasures, and important role in Scandinavian religious history make it one of Sweden’s most visited and admired landmarks.
