Magner's Castle, more commonly known as Castle Magner, is a medieval tower house located near the village of Castlemagner in County Cork, Ireland. The site was associated with the Magner family, an influential Norman-descended family that held the area for centuries and gave the village its name. The castle originally formed part of a fortified complex that included a central tower and a surrounding defensive enclosure known as a bawn. Although much of the structure has collapsed, parts of the tower, stair turret, and sections of the bawn walls still survive, showing features typical of Irish medieval fortifications. Castle Magner played a role in the turbulent history of the region and was damaged during periods of rebellion and conflict. The surrounding lands were later confiscated during the Cromwellian conquest of Ireland, and the castle gradually fell into ruin. Today, the remains of Magner's Castle stand as an important local landmark, offering a glimpse into County Cork's Norman and medieval past and the long history of the Magner family in the area.
