Mikulov is a historic town in the South Moravian region of the Czech Republic, founded in the early 12th century and developing as a market settlement before becoming a town in 1410.

It flourished under the rule of the Liechtenstein and later the Dietrichstein families from the 13th to 19th centuries, undergoing significant Renaissance and Baroque architectural transformations. The town is known for the Mikulov Castle, which stands on a hill overlooking the town and played a key role in political events such as the signing of the Treaty of Nikolsburg in 1621.

Mikulov's charming historic square features well-preserved Renaissance and Baroque buildings, including a town hall, churches, and a fountain with the Pomona statue. The town also has a rich cultural heritage with significant Jewish history, highlighted by the presence of a historic synagogue and one of the largest Jewish cemeteries in the Czech Republic.
