Mistletoe Castle
Ireland, Ireland
Mistletoe Castle is a historic country house in Youghal, County Cork, Ireland. Originally built in the 1770s as a summer residence for the Villiers-Stuart family, it was later remodeled in the Gothic Revival style around the 1830s, giving it its distinctive castle-like appearance with battlements and towers. Despite its name, Mistletoe Castle is not a medieval fortress but an elegant Georgian-era residence designed to evoke the romantic look of a castle. In the 19th century, it was associated with John Conroy Browne, a local landowner. Today, the building is recognized as an important part of County Cork’s architectural heritage and remains a notable landmark near the historic town of Youghal.
