Monumento Castelo de Maceda is a striking medieval fortress dominating the hilltop in Maceda, Ourense province, Galicia, Spain, with origins tracing to the late 11th or early 12th century when it was granted as a dowry to Doña María Fernández, daughter of the Count of Traba.

Evolving through centuries under noble families like the Sarmientos and linked to King Alfonso X the Wise, it blends military architecture with Renaissance palace elements, featuring robust granite walls, cylindrical towers, a grand rectangular keep, heraldic shields, and scenic balconies overlooking verdant valleys amid the region's feudal heritage. 

Extensively restored since the 1980s after Irmandiño revolt destruction and long abandonment, it now operates as a parador hotel, museum, and event venue, preserving its turbulent history from border defense to noble residence within Galicia's historic interior.
