Morodvis is a small village in Zrnovci municipality near Kočani in eastern North Macedonia, home to about 549 ethnic Macedonian residents as of 2002 and renowned for its Crkvište-Morodvis archaeological site. This multi-layered settlement thrived from late antiquity through the medieval era, featuring four superimposed churches including a 5th-6th century basilica with marble floors and ornate pillars, plus a 10th-15th century bishopric center under Tsar Samuel that later declined under Serbian and Ottoman influence. Excavations reveal over 350 graves with gold, bronze, and glass artifacts, Romanesque frescoed structures, and a necropolis spanning the 12th-19th centuries, marking it as a key religious hub in the Bregalnica region along ancient trade paths.
