Muralla Medieval
Mansilla de las Mulas, Spain, Spain
The Muralla Medieval of Mansilla de las Mulas is a 12th-century defensive wall in León province, Spain, predating the town's 1181 repopulation charter granted by King Fernando II, who reinforced it for protection along key routes like the Camino de Santiago.
Constructed from stone masonry with rounded pebbles and lime, it originally featured an adobe base later upgraded, six semicircular albarrana towers up to 9 meters tall, a quadrangular tower, and crenellated battlements without arrow slits, enclosing the urban core against the Esla River.
Well-preserved sections up to 14 meters high remain, including the prominent Puerta de la Concepción gateway, declaring the site a Historic-Artistic Complex since 1931.
