The National Botanic Gardens of Ireland is a premier scientific and horticultural institution in Glasnevin, Dublin, founded in 1795 to promote scientific study of agriculture and now home to over 15,000–17,000 plant species and cultivars from habitats around the world.

The 19.5‑hectare (about 20‑hectare) gardens are famous for their exquisitely restored Victorian curvilinear glasshouses—the Turner Curvilinear Range and the Great Palm House—both Europa Nostra award winners, which house computer‑controlled climates reproducing environments from different parts of the world, plus special collections such as ferns, cacti, and aquatic plants.

Key outdoor features include herbaceous borders, a rose garden, alpine yard, pond area, rock garden, arboretum, bog garden, and a vegetable garden, and the site also holds the National Herbarium with nearly three‑quarters of a million dried plant specimens and conserves over 300 endangered species, six already extinct in the wild.
