National Heroes Park is Kingston’s best-known memorial green space, serving both as a public park and as a place of national remembrance.
It was once the Kingston Race Course, later became George VI Memorial Park, and was renamed after Jamaican independence in 1973. The park holds the graves and memorials of many of Jamaica’s national heroes, prime ministers, and other important cultural figures, and it also includes the Jamaica War Memorial. Today it is a ceremonial and historic site in the heart of Kingston, valued for its open grounds, monuments, and role in honoring Jamaica’s history.
